Soccer season has started and with that brings two hour practices once a week. I really never realized how bored I was during these practices until tonight. I normally stay in my car and catch up on homework during this time. Tonight, the little girl I babysit had gotten Brenn's basketball out of the car and was playing with it. When her dad picked her up, she left the basketball just a little ways from the car. The basketball soon became the talk of the soccer fields, so in my severe state of boredom, I decided to do an experiment. For about an hour, I recorded how many kids walked by and what they did when they saw the basketball. Here are my results:
Out of 29 Kids:
19 Kids walked by and looked at the ball but did not say anything
7 kids walked by and said something about the basketball
1 kid touched the basketball
2 kids tried to take the basketball
The most memorable comment of the night was, "That's not a real basketball, it's too clean."
So based on this experiment, the soccer fields are safe for basketballs.
