E - BE AN ENCOURAGER
A couple of years ago while visiting family in South Carolina, Brenn and I attended my brother's church. That morning, the pastor talked about what it meant to be an encourager. It was really a great message and definitely made an impact on Brenn.
I know it made an impact on Brenn because every time I would scold or fuss at him, he would say, "Mom remember, you need to be an encourager." He did that for MONTHS.
Such a smarty pants.
As I was trying to decide what my 'E' post was going to be about, I remembered Brenn driving me crazy for months with that phrase. Then, I started wondering how often I really am an encourager to others.
Am I more quick to judge than to love?
Do I match rudeness for rudeness or do I make an effort to smile and say something positive to a person who looks like he or she is mad at the world?
There is no way to know what kind of day another person is having.
There is no way to know what another person is dealing with in his or her own life.
There is no way to know what kind of struggles another person is going through.
There is no way of knowing how much a kind word and a smile can change the course of another person's day.
