Ashley Madison Hack...My Two Cents

If you haven't heard about all that's going on with Ashley Madison, then you're probably living under a rock. If you are living under a rock, you might want to stay there. It's probably safer.

I heard something on the news last night that really, REALLY bothered me.

News reports are saying that the hack of the cheating website, Ashley Madison possibly caused two suicides.

Ummmmm, no people...the hack did not cause the suicides. The decisions of these people who used the website and the fact the they got caught caused the suicides.

Really, when did we stop taking responsibility for our actions? Nobody made these people go to Ashley Madison and create an account. Nobody made these people cheat on their spouses. And, no one made these people take their own lives.

Here's a concept (and it's not even a new one): Take responsibility for your actions! It's not
your spouse's fault. It's not your job's fault. It's no one's fault but your own. You might be in a bad marriage. You might be stressed. You might have addictions. But, YOU made the decision to act in a negative manner instead of taking actions to fix what's not working.

Newsflash, there are consequences to your actions. Your actions of self gratification don't just cause heartache and problems within yourself. Your actions affect other people, especially your family.

Just my two cents.

Life Lately

Here's an update on life...

My brother graduated from boot camp early in July and is now stationed in Charleston. I wish we could have attended his graduation, but it just didn't work out. It doesn't change how proud I am of his accomplishments!

We had our second big outreach on July 18 and it was packed! When we did our first outreach in March, we ministered to 34 families (representing 108 people). We more than tripled that number this time. We had 109 families come through (representing 347 people). It was CRAZY, but a great day. There are times when I get overwhelmed with everything happening with Hope Outreach and how big it's gotten in a very short amount of time. Those are the times when I have to stop and remember that God has everything under control....I'm just along for the ride. Next step is getting our tutoring program established. I'm really excited about that!

This boy...

Is now a sophomore. I knew he wouldn't let me take his picture on the first day, so I snapped one while he was walking into school.

I surprised Brenn with a trip to Titans training camp a couple of weekends ago. I think it's safe to say that the trip was a success. I love making memories like this. I hope these are the moments he'll remember as he gets older. Nothing can take the place of spending time with the people you love the most...even if it means sitting in the hot sun for hours waiting on an autograph. :)

This last weekend, I attended a missions conference in Nashville. I wish I could put into words the impact this conference had on me. I already feel that God has shown me where my mission field is at the moment (Hope), but there are still other areas of my life where I don't allow Him full access. He reminded me of the importance of praying with an intensity. It was a great conference and a great time with friends.

As far as dating...there is something in the works. Something potentially good. We will just have to wait and see...
